ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE
Have you ever seen a banner of any bank where it is written “FULLY COMPUTERISED BRANCH”. Well one may understand the meaning of “Computerised “ but confusion occurs when it is read as Fully computerized.
What actually the word computerized is? It is definitely related to the use of computer in data processing and data transactions, but do you think that the Meaning of computerized as same as “Fully Computerised”:: Well, here chaos and confusion arise!
Going back,When the use of computers were actually implemented in banks, may be 8-10 years back. At that time what actually computer used to do. They just used to store data,Large number of processors were used to store data and that too for individual branches. The processing was better than the manual, but not as good as expected. Also the employees were forced to learn, how to use all these technical works. So degree of uncertainity was high. Here the word “computerize” fits well.
Now, with the passage of time that uncertainity is being transformed into certainity.Now with the advancement of technology , competiton or may beany other factor, the situation is far better. Now one can transfer funds from one account to other online,Can withdrawl cash from ATM, pay bills online, request for a draft online,…….etc. i.e Fully computerized.
The reason is obvious the emergence of new technology,But mere inventing new technology is not enough, implementation is also very crucial and that too with control and transparency. This is all related to the emergence of new concepts and ideas, and when these are implemented in an organization , it is so called as Organisational Change.
